Are there any guys/gals out there on Gumtree that fish from a kayak?
I'd like to start a forum where we can discuss our latest catches, where to launch, the pro's and cons of the different ski's. Hint and tips! And most important, why dont the ladies do this? I feel very lonely out there being the only registered fisher"women" at DBN paddleski club. |

Ok I'll start. If you want to get some bait fish for those Couta, I caught a span of Maasbankers and dozens of irratating Pinkies which I threw back I used a Jazoorie and fished off Vetches pier on friday.Nothing of significance came out exept "I'm sure it was the same one, a large Tobie that decided to go for freedom, the 3rd time, out the scupper hole in my kayak and got stuck and blew himself up to the size of a soccer ball between my legs.
The water was like glass for most of the morning and unusuallly clean. then a NE came up followed by high swells. Had a dry ride home. |

Yeh, was pretty scary, can you imagine a prickly soccer ball bouncing around between your legs while floating on a plastic bath tub in the middle of the ocean. |

I breed rabits GRRRR.
No just joking.
I gave up fishing from the shore as whenever I caught anything I was inundated by Indian fisherman and ol trying to cast in the same hole and ol.Now I just paddle out to the shark nets where the realy good fish are. You should try it sometime, you'll never look back. But please dont ever go out alone, it can get dangerous. I would love to try your Cape Town waters. |

I hear you have realy big sharks down there.
I have a suggestion. If any of you are having marital or girlfriend problems, I am willing to hire out my double paddle ski. This is excellent for marriage councilling, You take her out there where neither of you can go anywhere. You learn to work together by paddling in sinc or you get nowhere. You can scream at each other as much as you like and neither will hear each other over the wind and the waves. You bait the hook for her and she catches all the fish.Hmmm but going home is the problem. If you dont work together you die. Those huge breaking waves are chasing you in to shore... will you make it???
You land, you are so happy to be alive you give her a huge hug. aaaah!
Marital bliss. |

Fishing competition this weekend 14/15 June at Vetches Pier(Durban Paddleski Club) for all you hundreds of keen fisherman that read this and dont reply.Entre fee costs R60 and what you will need, besides your fishing ski is,a pencil flare,a smoke flare, a 1st aid kit,a mirror,a whistle and an anchor. All are welcome as long as you meet these criteria and if you catch the biggest edible fish you are not entitled to the prize unless you attend the jol at the end of the day. If, however you are a skelm and bring back an undersized fish or an inedible great white" you will be chucked off the property immediatly.
Oh and you have to be over or under 35 years of age |

If everyone thinks like you then I'll have a good chance of catching the only fish. What you going to do, slap your paddle on the water and hope one jumps into your boat?,or maybe wiggle your toes in the water for johnny, |

Skiing is one of the most exciting hobbies one can have. But if you want a more extreme skiing, like on the lake, make it sure that you will have lessons in basics first. It is really hard if you will go at once without even thinking that you are not a well trained skier. Find and make some new friends who can teach you the proper techniques.

Hi Bennie. Please tell us more. Our lake is actually the sea. Our ski's are paddleskis not the 2 you strap to your feet. I think that is what you mean but I cant imagine fishiing like that. That would definitely need training.Maybe you can tell us more about this exiting new way. I will find a friend to join us. |
