Hi everyone,
by the way Twinkle toes is right,
My point that I am trying to make is that telling each other
from what generation we are does not help people like Jax and Nathan
it harbours negativity that creates more of a problem than finding
a solution to the first one.The power lies in our hands to change it.
I am speaking of the one thing that I know will work without a doubt.
Which comes back to the point that I made this is why they get the
better of society because we all still have to learn to accpet that there is
one goal and that ultimately we would have to unite in mass to overcome
it.
When we have problems or concerns and we turn to the bible, we pray for guidance and direction, where the book of knowledge opens, we'll find the answers to our situations.
We all are blessed with a talent, some tradesman, some preachers, some even bless with writing books or audio for you and I to have a better understanding of the bible, we have bible studies and sometimes we take notes, this notes we even share with others.
This does not mean the book is better than the bible, The Bible is the book of books.
Should we bury our talent and praise the bible, Or should we educate and better ourselves for the greater good.
Should we not strive to be the best that we can be?
By the way,.. My earlier message was for pernod, anyway,... I can see why he feels like that. |

Hi nathanc and other gummers
Feels great to be back !
Yes , we can tell you are new to the forum.I would hav to say that I disagree with the attitude you have of not paying them period to cover the bond and other. The bond and the car are very long term loan periods where there now is no way to get out of a monthly payment if you are unemployed / etc..But the credit cards and other small debts that you hav could leave you in a vicious debt cycle at a later stage. That will give you a happy bank but a stressed out owner who made a commitment to pay the retailer on such and such terms.I am just a believer that the percentage of profit that banks make over 20 year periods are more than enough to cover whatever loss they may experience at any stage for however long.I would think the best way to deal with is for us as the general public to demand that we the other party in the contract have right to ammend the repayment terms just as much as the banks do.Then we will cover all our repayments at ease.Food for thought nathanc. We are all ultimately in control of our futures why leave it to them to dictate , control and remove as they wish. Why have something called a bond " agreement ".

| Hi Nathan, interesting, and I am very sorry this happened to you. I hope you have recovered by now. The same just happened to me where the bank applied a set-off rule (which is not in my overdraft contract) against my business account and bankrupted me. I have no further funds to operate and after 15 years of blood, sweat and tears I will have to close my business. This was after we had a laywers involved and was negotiating a payment plan with the bank. We have logged this with the ombudsman for banking, but 2 months later and our total bankrupcy, we still have had no assistance from them. Just back and forth documentation but no resolution or assistance. I am now seeking assistance to take on this bank as they have ruend my life. The big institutions have bully boy tactics and the man in the street and the micro businesses such as mine, can never survive them, but I am not giving up yet. I believe the bank acted in poor faith and that is not the way you treat a customer that has been with you for 15 years. Hold thumbs for me, I know it is going to be a long uphill battle, but I am going to try and get this resolves. I am also looking for other people in the same boat as our, where we can have mass action against the banks as they are certainly not supportive during difficult times. Take care and I hope all worked out well for you. C. van Heerden |

I have been reading these post,
And my hart go's out to all, who lost very thing we worked for.
Its been 3 years of REAL HELL !!!! and back and I still get extremely angry with people who judge you because you lost everything.
I had a business over 12 years old, well establish, (well that what I Thoth) running with out any issues, employed 15 permit workers and 8 part time.
A small but well old machine, I was the client witch the bank phone to tell me home good a client I am,
I had 3 houses 5 Brand New Cars, not used new all not of them not older than 2 years, my hard still gets extremely sad when I see one of them on the road, Then I think to myself I had one as well, in Blue and so one,
3 stunning Homes and investments, Medical aid, pension all in place, my word I could just walk into a shop and get what ever to even think about the price, go to woolies and buy food not working if there is any money, spoil myself and my family.
My pride of being a Private Bank client, as I said the bank phoned me with offers?
And now, I have been a good client the perfect client my account never even paid late, all well before the 25th of each month,
And look at me know. 3 years later I lost everything not due to myself, 23 families out of work , due to business that was nothing wrong with just collapsed in 2008, I had to let all my staff go, my hard was broken when I told then I could not support them any more, and had to close the doors, that day I can still remember like it was yesterday.
a year later I could not Carrie the bond payments any more, the cars was a huge issue and all just collapsed,
I was running from what was going on, I could not get a grip that I am losing all I have word for, the bank would not make any arrangements, I spoke to my private banker and next thing I know I started getting final demands, and the non stop calls all hours of the day and night, you speak to someone know and the next call a next company demanding payment, I told them I don't have a income any more, what do you want me to do, I am a person who did not even write out one rd cheque in my life when the money stopped all my accounts was frozen, I was treated like how dare you use our faculty and not pay, (what happened to the 12 years of being the top client has that just gone out the window) .
I go some fed put with all the harassment from the different lawyers and someone phoning me for money, I started to tell them I don't have any money, where can I deposit the rd cheque that you can phone me in 2 day to tell me that the payment was unpaid,
I told them do you think I got money that's why did did not pay my account, because I got a couple of million in the bank.
I so fed up with all of this, the house I was thrown out by the sheriff and 1 year later it still stands empty and for sale, I have a flat let on the property, this is the best, the tenants still staying in the flat but know they pay rent to the sheriff not me, when I was in the house they paid me and I took the money to pay the electricity bill. now the using power and water and the bill I get in the post each month and its standing over R 65000, but I am not allowed to stay in the house,
My cars was sold for nothing and the bank still wants the full amount due when they have taken the cars from me,
I have been floating from one job to the next, I can get a proper job because of my debt,
I wanted to get the business back up and running on a extremely small scale but I cant get this to happen,
I don't have a car for the past year now, cant buy one nor do I have any money to go and buy one cash,
I go to pick and pay Shoprite and spar to buy food, what ever one can get for R 1000, I stood at the till last month.... the bill was R 1200, and walked away I told the lady I don't have that amount of money on me I just have to go and get some in the car, she said ok and closed the till for me, I walked out and could not go back,
I take care of my mom since my dad past away, and she had a stroke last year, I had no medical aid and had to go to a state hospital, I was in shock terrified to leave my mom there, they have security guards inside the hospital, I did not want to leave my mom there and was thrown out by security, I was never treaded like this, I discharged my mom that morning and took her home, or the shoe books we were in,
I had non one to turn to, my family did not want to help, when I told my sister mom had a stroke please help (they got the money) she told me stop trying to get money from me I fed up with you, I never asked her for a sent in my life and know this,
Personally I think the banks are just there to wheel us in when it go's good and destroy you when all go's wrong,
I still don't know what to do to even get back up, I don't have any friends I can say help please they all disappeared, family is not even to talk about.
I am stuck and can seem to move forward, its like I am in front of a brick wall 20 story high and as long a n1 from JHB to Cape town and cant get over it or around.
I just need help and don't know what or where to go.. |

@ newstart123
This is a typical story of how entrepreneurs/business people in South Africa are viewed. Everyone loves them when things are going well but wait for the day when something goes wrong! It is no wonder we have such a high unemployment rate! In this country you are seen as a failure and someone who should be banned if things do not work out. To start a business the first time is a challenge in this country but pure hell if you try again after the first one failed.
Maybe you should take a lesson from the United States.
In the US the attitude is different and people there believe that you succeed by learning from failure. The more you fail, the more you learn. Banks there like to see that you have failed before – in SA the bank manager will cancel your tea order when he picked up any failures! You are encouraged to try again, and again, and again. When you succeed you are praised and you earn the respect of the community.
I obviously do not know what your exact circumstances are but I urge you to go and sit and analise the positive things which you have and get a plan on how to use it. Look at it as a course – let’s call it the M.B.A. of Life. The rules are quite simple - here are some of them:
1. Banks must give you a hard time.
2. Your family must try to avoid you at all costs.
3. The Sherriff of the Court must know you by your first name.
4. If anything positive happens (like you secure a vehicle) then there must be some negative event to demp your spirit. (Like the vehicle’s engine seized and you do not have the money to fix it).
5. Your friends must ignore you and when they walk into you by accident they must show you their new expensive possessions and tell you how well they are doing.
6. If you have a wife or girlfriend, she must tell you on a daily basis that you should find a proper job and that you are actually a failure. It will help if the she has an economic intelligence that jobs are created by themselves.
As long as you know that these things will happen and it is just the “ assessors” testing you, you will be ok.
Use your mind and find ways to beat it – I know it is difficult when your legs are stuck knee high in mud. See the negatives as challenges and take it on – minute by minute. You will be surprise on how small successes change your mindset and give you space for bigger things to come.
You had a successful business – YOU CAN HAVE IT AGAIN!
BELIEVE IT! |

Hi
I sympathise with all the emails above , I know how you feel and all the stress financial issues create
I took out an HP agreement for my car in 2004. As far as I was aware this was now paid off. Yesterday I received an SMS informing that they were searching for me and my car was going to be repossessed. When I contacted the sender, she said that i had to phone JHB accounts. They have told me that I still owe R39000.00!!! I have asked them to send a detailed statement to me. Even if this is the case , how can they request the outstanding money almost four years later and threaten with repossession. Can anyone help me with regards to my rights |
