Hi dj-luna

shame sorry to hear about your german shepard.....i know how you feel...the same thing happend to me.....i bought a female jackrussel pup very cute at 6 weeks old.....when i brought her home.....i notice that she had an abnormal amount of worms....they where super long....i dewormed her and she got all her injections.....but when she reached 5 months....she started to bleed from behind....we took her to the vet...trying to find out what is wrong....vet had given her some medications i had to give her every 2 hours....she died the next day...it first looked like she was getting better than it got worse....

i was devistated....angery/sad....i felt it was unfair...she was still a baby...she did not even start living jet...then she was gone....i was angry at myself...thought....mabye i could have done more...and was not sure what had gone wrong.....i found out later that the puppies mom had worms before she got pregnant....owner thought that you could not deworm the mom in her pregnany nor when she is feeding.....but she was wrong....she could of given mom deworming....what she thought would harm the pups....is where she was harming the pups....by not giving mom deworming....it would of been safe.....the pups insides got damaged....my pup died because of inside damage...to her organs....

I started to do research on jackrussels and got to know all kind of things just to protect the animals i have.... being a breeder.....don't want my pups to be sold and get sick later. It is so important to me......im a real animal lover...i hate when people don't take care of there pets propery.....

its hard to say what happend in your case....but i have seen some bad breeding habits from some people.....like inbreeding....mating with dad and daughter....mom and son...brother and sister.....cause alot of genetic problems...and weakens the genes of that breed....causing all kinds of problems....

could also be that the breeder....got a purebred pair.....but is breeding with them when they are older that 8 years old (human years)...some studies shown when...the dogs is older that 8 humans years their genes is getting weaker....and will cause some problems for the pups born in their prime years....it sounds harmless.....but it not it can cause them to have problems even if the mom and dad is perfectly health....with no problems....allergies....skin problems....loss of hair....organ problems....the list goes on and on....

will be a really good idee when buying a new pup....to ask the breeder some questions about the mom and dads history....and what he thinks of in breeding to get an idee.... Confused ....

Hi Blue

Thanks for your reply.. i have read and taken into considiration the valuable information that you have given me and i have taken all precautions that i can to see that what ever happned to my beloved shasha does not happen again....

Its probably weird to love a pet so much that you mourn over it this long but some mornings when i go outside to start the car i still expect her to come running out of her kennel, tial wagging as soon as i open my car.....

Happy new year to all... May all your wishes come true and all your ventures be a success....

Hi Sokkieblue

Am I correct in assuming that you are a breeder?

If you are, would you be able to tell me if my dog can get pregnant again straight after having a litter. She had puppies in November which all have been weaned and sold.

I noticed that she's acting the same way when she had her first heat cycle - very interested in the male, they being together all the time, the male constantly sniffing and trying to mount her. As she is a small breed, she doesn't have the normal signs of going on heat, so I am not too sure about this.

Thanks very much.

We are proud owners of two black poodles.
Mum is 15 years old
Daughter is 13 years old.
Have two cats, 2 year old female, and 18 month old boy.
A chameleon named George.
And hoping to get another pup, as the old girls are getting deaf, although we keep them comfy, I kinda miss playing ball etc with my dogs.
