of companies mentioned
they bought it from Swift Reg in N1, they just add
certain nos to the name
will not phone them, will go personally to them
and discuss this matter
seems like this name is been sold to a thousand
others and only just adding nos to it
always wonder how this Swift Reg and to buy excisting
CC's worked
with programs this weekend and the womans'week coming
up, no guarantees to solve it within this week,
do not get paid for it, in any case

Hi took us for the deposit to extend our vibracrete walls - in Nov/Dec 2010. He used an emergency medical problem as the excuse to delay supposed start of job... I think he just stalled for time in order for the money transfer to clear.
Question... How is this guy still able to advertise on Gumtree?????

I can't believe it. I really can't afford it. I've been scammed. I've paid deposits and yesterday he was to have installed vibacreet walling plus galvanised fencing and gates. He sms'd to say he couldn't make it. Was coming today. No show. Not able to contact him. Hence my seach on his name.
I feel ill. I could vommit.
BEWARE - he is offering vibacreet walling, too, claims to have an engineering works. Also, is wearing a boot as if he has a broken foot - loooooong sob story about Macsteel and a crane 11 years ago.
I have just done a general google for him - this is his facebook page
http://www.facebook.com/people/Riaan-Radyn/1306752261#!/profile.php?id=593954988
I have contacted the police - thanks Willie. |

Hi guys
Sorry to read about your misfortunes. But why are you paying deposits upfront?
If these scamsters/contractors cannot finance their own jobs, they don't deserve to be in business, finish and klaar.
Not only here but everywhere, one reads about lost moneys advanced before the job is even started or materials delivered.
If a contractor for whatever service comes to my house and demands money upfront, I'll send him on his way.
Long ago, I learned another lesson. I engaged a housepainter who wanted financial assistance to buy paint, brushes and other items needed for the job. Fair enough, I thought.
So, I accompanied him to the paint wholesaler. He drove his bakkie and I followed in my own car.
We chose the materials together and I paid for it. The goods were loaded on his vehicle and the job was to start the next day.
The following day, he arrived with his men and all the materials we bought the previous day.
I looked at the cans and noticed some cans had faint traces of paint near the lids but thought nothing of it.
The job was completed OK but during the following weeks, months and years, I had to put up with the poorest quality rubbish paint when trying to remove little marks from the vacuum cleaner or of my dogs.
When using a little Handy Andy, cleaning with the lightest pressure on a soft cloth, the paint just washed off.
The bloke had decanted the branded paint from the cans and substituted it with some unknown rubbish.
Lesson learned. No money upfront and the closest possible inspection of paint cans before the job starts.

Some people are more trusting than others and most - even real existing non-scamming contractors require an up-front deposit. I doubt you've ever had any work done.
Anyway. I shall recover and I am THE MOST TENACIOUS person on the planet and I WILL get extract justice. Watch this space.
I NEVER EVER EVER give up. I am now on a crusade. |

Hi OMG
I own two properties and have lived in one for nearly 40 years. There has been pavers, garden people, electricians, alarm people, plumbers, painters, carpet cleaners and many more delivering services here over the years. With one exception, no-one has demanded money upfront. If any future service provider asks for money upfront, he or she will get short shrift.
Good for you that you are tenacious about recovering your money and I wish you all the best.
I am the same. I detest being stolen from. OT: Last weekend some cast iron drainage covers got stolen from my house. I wrote to the newspapers about the problem in my street. I laid a charge with SAPS which took 2 days as the cops thought it was a joke. I went to the scrapyard near my house but couldn't find my property which will cost R500 to replace. I also interviewed some trolley pushers and like you, I will never give up until I discover who stole my things.

Hi guys
I got taken for R2k by Riaan, you need to contact the bank where you deposited the money, send them the proof of payment. They are obligated to start an investigation, you might even be able to claim some of the money back. Check which bank you made the payment to and contact them he may have more than one account and at different banks, once they suspect that there is fradulent activity on the account, they have to freeze it. You can also get the cops to follow up with the banks in order to get his physical address.
Good luck to every one |

This goes both ways... imagine, a contractor paying R20000 for materials to fit a kitchen, after the wood is cut, the client decides to go with a cheaper quote... the contractor is R20k out of pocket.
Then you get the client who will happily pay the 50% deposit... but will have no intention of paying the balance on completion of the work. Just like the fraudsters who run off with deposits... you have the clients that too are conniving thieves.
In conclusion, do your homework, get a list of references, I supply my clients with 20 of my most recent clients. Go and take a look at work they've done.
I've yet to be done in by a client, but I know MANY contractors who have. When I smell a rat I walk away, and yes my clients have to pay a deposit which will always be in the region of between R10 000 and R30 000 I've been in business for 'bout 10 years and have had no issues as yet. (touch wood) Also if a client asks me to pay for materials (and to bill them after) I walk away, I'll rather lose a client than lose R20k Thankfully, in 10 year I have only had about 3 clients that asked me to do that. |
