Well done fwatcher. It seems like we have quite a couple of very alert people on Gumtree! If we all stand together, we can fight all fraudsters, scammers, perverts and people with ulterior motives, making it unpleasant for the other users.  |

I have come across a scam  They put on new adds weekly. All they change is their email address, names and pets they currently have. But I'm warning you, its the same scam. They claim to want only a loving home for their pet/s. They say their in Cameroon and that you can have their "babies" for free, all you have to do is pay for the pet/s transport. This will cost R1500-00. They also say that they will send the pets toys, food, medical papers etc. They sound very concerned, loving and caring. But please beware! Once you send the money to the "transport company" you will never here from them again. Their current ads advertise marmoset monkeys. But they change it weekly. From puppies, to macaws and almost anything you can think of. So please be aware if the add contains anything like the above mentioned. I keep on reporting their adds but this does not help. They just change it again. They change their emails as well but if it has any of the following key words, its probably the same scam. Cameroon, needs only loving home, well trained, gets along with kids and other animals, vaccinations, vet records, perfectly healthy, only pay R1500-00 for transport. |

Never ever buy any per from the Cameroon. As 419 is to Nigeria, so pets scams are to the Cameroon (which is next to Nigeria) and sometimes we have an overlap of both scam types.
Why, those monkeys even made it to the BBC (the animals, not the scammers)

Do you have the details of the courier company? The courier company cannot transport non-existent pets, so they are part of the scam.
Courier website addresses will also help to warn others away. |

Also beware adds for marmosets from PE
e-mail they use are realpets4life@gmail.com. You get a Invoice from Miller Max Breeding Farm,everything looks legit and they sound so sincere.BUT then comes insurance, they use a website:www.pettravelintl.com.nu, then the so called delay @ the airport and more money for permits. Needless to say I got suspicious and phoned the airport and to no suprise NO MONKEY. The only monkey is me for falling for it, hopefully this will help someone else not to make the same mistake!  |

Another ad that seem Very suspicious to me is this one advertising African Greys. The claim to be giving them away for free. Just doesnt sound right. The address also points to the middle of Port Elizabeths biggest township. Something's fishy here.
They are vet checked, immunized and micro chipped identified and registered. All our parrots are DNA tested and proven to have a very high reproductive ability, they are very fertile and reproductive. All our parrots are well trained and are also very sociable and likes to play with people and other home pets We are give them away alongside all valid certificates, and parrot accessories. |

They advertise the pups as free for adoption.I have included their contact details should you come accross them.
After Googling the address of the one he emailed me I ended up at http://www.homeequipment.zoomshare.com/10.html . A very very suspicious website and the guy's name is NOT RICHARD ROUX but MR ROBERT MATHOSI but the cell number for both names are the same.

The babies are not for sale but for adoption
but here are a few issues
which i will like to make you understand and possibly address them
before we proceed,
1st. I do NOT place my puppies in homes where they will just
be breeding and making money without love and care giving to them like
what i do or even more.
2nd. I do NOT let my puppies go to homes where they would
live outside!
3rd. I will NOT place my puppies with anyone who has any
history of child or animal abuse!! and the
4th. Any new home must take time to educate
themselves on how to properly care for their unique new bulldog child.
5th. and last but not the list, i will probably turn down homes that
have a large number of other dogs. As my english bulldogs crave individual
love & attention. As long as you can make me understand that you will
share the love in your homes with these puppies, i will consider
placing the puppy of your choice to your home, regardless of your
location, even if you are not located within a driving distance, i do
consider flying as an option. So please get back to me as soon as
you can and please advice on your exact location. Thank you for your
