| It is such a pity these guys get away with it. As a private investigator i hear about these scams all the time. Mostly people get scammed for R10 000 or less. The cost for me to catch them, can be close to that amount. The police can get the information, that i have to buy, for free. In most cases they just dont know how to go about it. In the end, the SAPS do nothing and the victim can not afford to hire me. Then these criminals just carry on. We seldom find that a client says: "I want these people locked up as a matter of principle". That would be the right thing, but does not make sense financially. Thus CATCH 22. |

That is exactly the problem (post by aputter). Catch22. However, does anybody know about the SA Charter for Victims of Crime?
The right to compensation:
You have the right to compensation for loss of or damage to property suffered as a result of a crime.
"Compensation" means an amount of money that a criminal court awards a victim who has suffered loss or damage to property, including money, as a result of a crime
Push hard enough people and get these criminals in court! So if you have been scammed, you have the right to be compensated for this loss!
I say don't complain if you have been scammed and you just let it go! We are partly to blame if we have been scammed, so abide by your duty to then help the police catch these fraudsters.
KNOW your rights and take action!! |
